AV Design & Sales

We are looking for a field-based AV Design & Sales person to join our busy team. Ideally living near to our main Harpenden office you will design and project manage the installation of AV systems for churches in the home counties and south-east.

Job Description:

Church AV Design & Sales is a very demanding but rewarding occupation requiring multiple disciplines, focus, and self-motivation to achieve a successful outcome.

The system designs can be for anything from the simplest of PA/loop systems up to full multi-media systems for speech, AV and live bands, in buildings varying from 1,000 year old listed buildings to modern state-of-the-art new builds …and all points in between!

The work is split between approx 20% out on site (predominantly churches), and 80% office (working at DM’s Harpenden office, but some flexibility for working from home*)

You will need to provide your own vehicle for travel to site.

As an AV Design & Sales person your responsibilities will include:

  • Site visits and designing primarily Church AV Systems to meet clients' specifications and budgets
  • Writing quote documents and producing technical plans and system schematic (often includes presenting clear technical information to non-technical clients)
  • Supporting clients with technical expertise
  • Project managing from design and quote through to installation and follow-up technical support
  • Being the central hub between the client, contractors, installation engineers
  • Accurate record keeping of all projects
  • Predominantly Mon to Fri office hours but may need occasional flexibility to arrange meetings in evenings or weekends

Your Qualities

The successful candidate's qualities will include:

  • A strong interest in audio and video technology
  • Ability to present clear technical information in written documentation to both technical and non-technical clients
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good at creative problem solving
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to liaise with architects, committees, site contractors and other parties
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word & Excel) and ability to work with drawing packages such as Sketchup and Smart Draw
  • Must be very self-motivated and able to work to deadlines
  • Must have own vehicle for all travel
  • Experience of church and volunteering in an audio/video role would be helpful
  • For home working option a suitable environment and broadband etc is required
