The CLP320 and CVP401 feature Yamaha’s industry standard GH (Graded Hammer) Action. In this action, the keys in the bass register of the keyboard are weighted progressively heavier than the treble – accurately replicating the feel of an acoustic piano where the thicker, heavier bass strings require a heavier, thicker hammer to produce the note. Key damping is provided by 2 layers of felt sandwiched with 2 layers of heavy duty foam, which provides a firm, even key response throughout the 88-note range. GH3 GRADED HAMMER ACTION The CLP330 utilises the superb GH3 action. This action was developed specifically to provide even better touch response and keyboard feel than the already acclaimed GH action. GH3 damping is provided by a 4-layer sandwich of felt – which not only means that the action feels even more like a piano, but also that the stress transmitted to the player’s fingers is reduced. In fact, back-stress transmission levels are up to 40% lower than other actions. This makes the GH3 superlative in comfort for the player. The GH3 action also has the extra refinement of an additional velocity sensor for each key. This increases sensitivity and also has the effect of dramatically increasing repetition rates – by up to 35%. . In addition, the CLP340 features a new artificial ivory key facing which improves grip and promotes even more accurate playing, whilst giving the luxury of real grand piano feel. SAMPLING AND TONE GENERATION The Clavinova series features Yamaha’s renowned AWM (Advanced Wave Memory) technology for the ultimate in instrument realism. And to ensure a warmer, more natural and more captivating sound, most models also incorporate DSS (Dynamic Stereo Sampling) piano samples. Taken at different levels from fortissimo to pianissimo, these new samples provide subtle variations in volume and timbre depending on how you play the keys – making the new Clavinova range the most responsive ever. Some models also incorporate Stereo Sustain and Key-Off samples. Stereo Sustain samples recreate the resonances of the strings and the soundboard when the damper pedal is pressed that contribute to the unique sound of a grand piano. Key-Off samples provide the delicate sound that keys make when they are released for another touch of realism. To take you even closer to grand piano performance pleasure, some models also incorporate String Resonance samples, which deliver the complex resonances that make an acoustic grand piano sound so rich and detailed. Many models feature XG/SMF compatibility, allowing access to a whole world of music software, both Yamaha’s own Disk Orchestra Collection, XG For Piano or PianoSoft, and third-party commercial software.
