Sub-woofers add the low end bass frequencies to your PA system. And no, there not just for use in a night club! Adding a 'Sub' to your church PA system, particularly if you have a worship group/band, will gives a much rounder fuller sound and if installed correctly will allow your main speakers and amplifiers run alot more efficiently. If you playback music from a source like a CD or audio from a DVD a Sub will also add a great deal to the sound.
