Recording & Boundary Microphones
Whilst most recordings in the main body of the church are made through the mixing desk, it is also useful to be able to record talks and events taking place in smaller rooms in which there is no amplification system. To do this you will need to plug a microphone into your recording device, and with so many different types of microphone available it's important to choose the right one.
A boundary (or PZM) microphone can be an excellent way to record a meeting, as it is able to pick up sound from all directions, meaning that a discussion around a table can be picked up with just one microphone. It also means that people can move around without going 'off-mic'. Surface mounted, the boundary mic can be placed on a tabletop or attached to a wall to provide an ambient recording of the whole room in a way which a normal directional microphone could not achieve. They are also low-profile and less obtrusive than a normal pencil microphone.
We offer a wide range of studio microphones for home or studio recording. Please call if you need something specific: 0844 980 9822
